The foundation of IDiAL

Under the leadership of the Process Improvement for Mechatronic and Embedded Systems (PIMES) research focus area and in collaboration with the Mobile Business - Mobile Systems (MBMS), Intelligent Business Information Systems (iBIS) and BioMedical Technology (BMT) research focus areas, 10 professors from four faculties have founded the Institute for the Digital Transformation of Application and Living Domains (IDiAL).

IDiAL currently employs more than 58 people in research projects, most of whom are based in the university building at Otto-Hahn-Str. 23 and 27, so that an intensive exchange has been developed.

There are currently 24 doctoral students in cooperative doctoral procedures with partner universities and are being supported by Fachhochschule Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts as part of a Graduate Center.

IDiAL can draw on its strong university network for this. The doctoral partners include TU Dortmund University and TU Munich, the University of Hagen, the University of Duisburg-Essen, Osnabrück University, Bielefeld University, Paderborn University, Kassel University, Hildesheim University, Vechta University, the University of the Basque Country and KU Leuven.

In addition to training in the form of projects and theses
IDiAL is also involved in teaching through the English-language Master's degree courses "Digital Transformation"
and "Embedded Systems for Mechatronics".
