If you want to study in Germany, you need a valid health insurance - otherwise you cannot enroll at Fachhochschule Dortmund - University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

A proof of German health insurance needs to be submited digitally by your German health insurance company

You can find further information here

A valid health insurance is mandatory for your entire stay in Germany. Among other things, you will need the insurance certificate for enrollment as well as for the initial application for your residence title and for its subsequent extension.

In Germany, there are two different types of health insurance: the statutory health insurance and the private health insurance. The differences between these two systems are explained in the tabs above - please read the information carefully. Depending on your purpose of stay and age, different conditions apply.

You must decide on a particular type of health insurance yourself. We cannot give you any recommendations!

Choosing the right health insurance - your status determines your options

In general, if you exceed the age of 30 during your studies in Germany, you can continue with statutory health insurance - but you will then have to pay a higher contribution. If you have already reached the age of 30 at the beginning of your studies, you must conclude a private health insurance.

To find the right health insurance, please read the following tabs and the table in the form of a checklist carefully.
