TalentScouting
The "Hochschule vor Ort" and "TalentScouting" programs form the Department Talentförderung dedicated to fostering talented and gifted students of Fachhochschule Dortmund. Both programs believe that there are many students out there with hidden potential, who need to be discovered and helped to recognize, nurture, and fully realize their potential with the help of solid study and career choices. The Department Talentförderung focuses in particular on students from non-academic backgrounds.
In addition to their shared core beliefs, "Hochschule vor Ort" and "TalentScouting" have independent approaches and offer complementary services:
Hochschule vor Ort with its team of StudyScouts and the Nordstadtgalerie engages in activities in the north of Dortmund: The StudyScouts often have a migrant background or are the first in their family to study and thus represent typical role models. The Nordstadtgalerie serves as a window into the university by implementing student exhibitions and creative events on socially relevant topics.
TalentScouting supports talented and gifted students from 19 secondary schools in Dortmund and the surrounding area. TalentScouts advise senior high school students in individual face-to-face consultations on a wide range of topics related to their future plans. The consultations are long-term, confidential and unbiased as to the result. At the end of the process, future plans are drawn up that fit the students’ personalities and take their specific requirements and challenges into account.
