DAAD VORsprung
The free, digital study preparation program VORsprung prepares international prospective students and prospective students in Germany with a refugee background for STEM studies in Germany, regardless of location—including taking the TestAS and TestDaF as entrance exams.
The program includes, on the one hand, subject-specific preparation for studying in Germany. Depending on their intended field of study, participants take two of the four subjects in the technology course (T-course) at a German preparatory college—the mathematics module plus one additional subject module (physics, chemistry, or computer science). On the other hand, VORsprung includes language preparation for university studies. The required language proficiency level is B2 (CEFR). Participants complete modules from Deutsch-Uni Online (DUO) and receive targeted preparation for the TestDaF. Prospective students with initial language proficiency at the B1 level (CEFR) may also participate in VORsprung, but must first complete a preparatory intensive German course.
The program is offered twice a year for prospective students and lasts up to 37 weeks:
- 4 weeks of preliminary intensive German course (only for participants with an initial language proficiency level of B1.2)
- 2 weeks of onboarding and start of the regular German course
- 26 weeks of academic and language preparation, including 2 weeks of vacation
- 5 weeks of TestDaF training
- TestAS & TestDaF depending on available dates
The program is funded by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA).

Access to the Bachelor's program: higher semester
for students of the PSG College of Technology, India, as part of the IGCHE cooperation
The Indo-German Centre for Higher Education (IGCHE)(Opens in a new tab) is a cooperation initiative that enables Indian engineering students to complete part of their Bachelor's degree in Germany.
Structure of the "3+1 Program"
Students of the Indian partner institution PSG College of Technology are given the opportunity to complete their final year of study in Germany, including an internship and a practice-oriented Bachelor's thesis in German companies.
In the first three years of study, all students complete their studies in English and receive intensive German lessons in India as part of their curriculum from the first semester onwards. In the fourth year, after passing the TestDaF exam (minimum score of 16 points), students continue their studies in a German Bachelor's program at one of the IGCHE universities. In addition, students either complete a one-semester internship in a German company and write their final thesis in cooperation with the German company or write their project thesis at the same university. Upon completion of the program, each student receives a Bachelor's degree from the respective German university.
