Supportive resources for students

The FHCard is a fully-featured student ID card with electronic validity for each semester.
In addition to the name and enrollment number, the card also includes a passport photo.

The photo and identity are verified during issuance based on an official photo ID, enabling the FHCard to be used for identification during exams.

With the assistance of the identity management system provided by the University IT, all members of Fachhochschule Dortmund (both students and staff) have access to all systems connected to the Identity Management (IDM) with a single, university-wide user identification, the FHKennung.

Family Services provides information on all services available to you as a student raising children, helping you better balance family and university.

It is our goal to support you in balancing family and your studies. Family Services advises you on the compatibility of care responsibilities and academic pursuits.

Students of Fachhochschule Dortmund hold the public transport pass "Deutschland-Semesterticket”, which can be used for public transportation throughout Germany in the 2nd class. The costs of the ticket are included in the social contribution fees(Opens in a new tab) .

Would you prefer to take the bike to the university instead of using a car or public transportation? Then take advantage of our rental bikes.

Nextbike rental stations are available at all locations of the university. Thanks to an agreement between the university and Nextbike, employees and students of Fachhochschule Dortmund can ride for free for 60 minutes.

If your bike tires need air or a screw is loose, public service stations for bicycles at the university provide air pumps and various tools.

At the facilities of University Sports of TU Dortmund University and Fachhochschule Dortmund, you can work out alongside other students and staff members of both universities. Take a look if there is something for you.

The prerequisite for using the facilities is the purchase of a sports card. For some courses, additional fees may apply.

Fachhochschule Dortmund has its own sailing club, which is a member of the German Sailing Federation. All university members have the opportunity to obtain a boating license or to sail if they already have one. The sailing activities take place on Lake Kemnade near Bochum, using three club-owned boats.

As of 2013, Fachhochschule Dortmund has been collaborating with Theater Dortmund.
With the "FH-Ticket," students can attend the theater for free.

Students of the university can obtain two tickets for each production from the theater repertoire by presenting their student ID. The university covers the ticket costs. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to participate in cultural activities!
