Semester contribution

The semester contribution (social contribution) must be paid by each student per semester in order to be able to begin or continue their studies at Fachhochschule Dortmund - University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

It consists of the contribution for the Studierendenwerk Dortmund (social contribution), which is used to finance student service facilities, such as dining halls and dorms, among other things. The basis for the contribution charge are the contribution regulations by the Studierendenwerk.

The General Students' Committee (AStA) receives a share, which is used, among other things, to finance counseling and support services for students.

The semester contribution also includes the cost of the public transport pass "Semesterticket", which allows enrolled students to use public transportation (2nd class) in North Rhine-Westphalia for the duration of the semester.

The current fee for the winter semester 2023/24 is €343.02.

Students who are on leave of absence due to illness, pregnancy, studies abroad, or completion of voluntary military service or federal voluntary service do not have to pay the semester contribution. In case of a leave of absence for other reasons, the contribution for the Studierendenwerk Dortmund has to be paid.

Students of a compound study program or the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering - compound study program PSM additionally have to pay a material purchase fee.

You can only enroll and re-register after paying the contribution.
