Amicus Introduction Days
During the orientation days "AMICUS" you will receive information about the aliens law regulations. We will introduce you to important contacts during your studies. Student tutors from different departments will accompany you to your departments and give you hints and tricks for successful studies at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
If you decide to study in Germany and thus spend a longer period of time in a new country, you should also become familiar with the cultural differences and ways of life. This makes living together much easier and helps not to judge too quickly in some situations. Therefore, the International Office invites you to a one-day intercultural training as part of the "AMICUS" orientation days.
Please note: The language of the event is German. English-language Master's programs offer their own introductory events for their students. Please contact the program management for more information about this topic.
The dates of the "AMICUS" introduction days in German are usually in the week before the beginning of the lectures of the respective semester.
Introductory events and study start events
The Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts welcomes all first-semester students to the university and would like to help you get off to a successful start. Therefore, introductory events are held in the respective study programs each semester. These events can take place over the course of a day or even over several days. Some of these events are designed to help you get to know your fellow students and of course the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, while others are designed to prepare you for the lectures you will attend during your studies.
What can you expect from the introductory events?
Usually, various welcoming events take place first (for example, by the Dean, the ASTA and FAStA), but also helpful events organized by the student advisory service. You will be introduced to the programs at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and offered preparatory and bridge courses. Participation in the campus and library tours is also recommended. Some departments or AStA(Opens in a new tab) /FAStA(Opens in a new tab) also offer a joint breakfast/barbecue or a varied evening program.
