Business Informatics (Bachelor), combined study program

• How do you develop IT systems for business applications and put them into practice?

• Which fundamental possibilities and limitations of information processing play a role?

The special feature of the combined study model is that it allows you to study while working, training or working with your family. This is guaranteed by a 70% self-study component with tailored learning material and 30% attendance events on selected Saturdays. The model takes into account the combination of theory and practice demanded by Business Studies and politics and avoids the disadvantages of pure distance learning.

The aim of this Bachelor's degree program is to qualify students for a large number of positions and functions in the areas of analysis, design and application of operational and administrative information and communication systems. You will learn to model and analyse business processes and to design the company organization in such a way that optimal communication structures are created. You will acquire important and relevant methods and social skills, for example in the context of case studies, group work and projects. A web-based learning platform enables access to information and learning content regardless of time and place and serves as a communication platform.

Through the combination of classroom teaching and self-study, graduates of the joint degree program are particularly well equipped to independently acquire and apply knowledge from various sources with regard to "life-long-learning".

The standard period of study, including all examinations, is nine semesters. Regular evaluations show that the attendance phases are seen as a central element for the success of the course. The personal and direct exchange of experiences with fellow students and direct contact with lecturers, as well as practical application in projects, exercises, internships and seminars are essential. The learning materials used to teach the content are also rated positively. These replace the lectures and, in some cases, exercises found in traditional degree programs.

The on-campus courses usually take place outside the school vacations in
NRW on eight Saturdays plus up to three closed Saturdays per semester.

After successfully completing the program, you will receive a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree.
