Business informatics, practical semester or semester abroad

• Which software systems are required for this?
• Should this software be developed individually or are there already standard solutions on the market?
• How can standard business software be adapted to a company?

When studying business informatics, you will learn to analyze complex business problems, transfer them into abstract models and develop IT solutions, usually in teamwork.

The six-semester Bachelor's degree program in Business Information Systems, or seven semesters with a practical semester, is based on the so-called three-pillar model of Business Information Systems. Firstly, you will acquire sound skills in the scientific methods of computer science. Secondly, you will learn the scientific foundations of business management methods. Thirdly, you will combine your skills in computer science and business administration with the integrative subjects of business informatics. You will practise interdisciplinary thinking and thus master all business information systems.

You will deal with mathematics and statistics as a cross-sectional discipline across all three pillars. Extracurricular fundamentals, including learning and working techniques and technical English, round off the study program.

The seven-semester study option gives you the opportunity to establish contact with companies during the practical phase, to expand your practical knowledge and, for example, to enhance your intercultural skills through a stay abroad. You can also decide for or against an internship semester during your studies. In any case, all achievements will be recognized and transferred.

The project work, which should be carried out outside of the university, especially in the seven-semester variant, and the writing of the Bachelor's thesis will train you to work independently.

After successfully completing the program, you will receive a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree.
