About the Hochschule vor Ort

Fachhochschule Dortmund would like to give something back to society with the Hochschule vor Ort. The program is based on two pillars: the Study Scouts and the Nordstadtgalerie. Both aim to create more educational participation and equal opportunities in Dortmund's Nordstadt district.

Discovering and promoting potential

Young talents from the north of Dortmund are to be motivated to study at university by highlighting educational paths and low-threshold offers. At the same time, the Hochschule vor Ort aims to activate and promote the district with its potential and resources through events and creative impulses.

The two pillars of the Hochschule vor Ort are of central importance here: the StudyScouts and the Nordstadtgalerie. Further information can be found under the respective menu items.

Management

I have been working at Fachhochschule Dortmund for over 15 years, where I also completed my degree in Social Work in 2008. I started my work at the university as a parental leave replacement in the International Office, then supervised an integration project and then took on the task of setting up the "Hochschule vor Ort" in 2010.
Topics such as participation in education, equal opportunities and the social responsibility of universities have always been important to me. I am both proud and happy that Hochschule vor Ort has been so successful for over 10 years now and that its services have become firmly established at the university and in Nordstadt.
It gives me great pleasure to work with committed students and many other colleagues from the university and the city to demonstrate and further expand the university's social commitment through Hochschule vor Ort.

After completing my Bachelor of Arts in Photography, I began my Master's degree in Photographic Studies at Fachhochschule Dortmund. As part of my studies, I got to know and appreciate the Hochschule vor Ort, especially the Nordstadtgalerie. I have been supporting the Nordstadtgalerie in the area of gallery management since October 2019 and have been responsible for the overall coordination of the HvO since March 2023. I use the knowledge, skills and experience I have acquired through my studies, committee work and professional practice to develop creative strategies to connect academic life with the local people in the north of Dortmund and to promote interdisciplinary dialog. My work enriches my everyday life every day with its varied tasks, diverse challenges and dedicated team.

Office organization

For several years now, I have been taking on general support tasks in the office organization of the Hochschule vor Ort. Together with the scouts, I sit at Bornstraße 142 and keep an overview of the premises and the stock of materials. With my supportive work during events, I try to contribute to the positive development of the Hochschule vor Ort.
After training in a trade and business, I went to university. I find it enriching (also for me personally) to promote talent, to work with people and to break new ground here too.
