Doctoral positions / doctoral scholarships

Every year, particularly good Master's graduates can apply for doctoral positions with their doctoral supervising professors at Fachhochschule Dortmund.

Funding is available for cooperative doctorates and doctorates under the doctoral law of the Graduate Center NRW for a maximum of four or four and a half years with a 50% or 40% position as a research assistant.

The next application deadline is October 1, 2024.

Promotion prize

Since 2022, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts has been awarding the annual doctoral prize of 1,000 euros from the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts funding association for an outstanding cooperative doctorate from one of the university's various faculties.

Applications can be submitted until 12.04.2024. Information on the application process, requirements and criteria can be found here(Opens in a new tab) .

Grants

Grants can be applied for at the Graduate Center that do not represent permanent funding, but rather subsidize individual or recurring expenses within a limited framework. These include conference travel, mobility and editing grants.

Support for doctoral (expectant) parents

(Expectant) parents working on their doctorate receive special support at Fachhochschule Dortmund. In addition to the services offered by the Family Service  (including mobile childcare), Equal Opportunities  has established funding instruments specifically for mothers doing their doctorates.

Doing a doctorate with health impairments

The Graduate Center would like to point out that health impairments do not have to mean exclusion from a doctorate. We would like to draw your attention to the "PROMI - doctorate inclusive" project:

The "PROMI - doctorate inclusive" project is aimed at anyone interested in the topic of "Doing a doctorate with health impairments, disabilities and chronic physical or mental illnesses". The information platform(Opens in a new tab)  provides you with research findings and experiences from the project in the form of guidelines, examples of good practice and resources. It also offers the opportunity to network with other doctoral candidates and with relevant internal and external stakeholders on the topic.

Promotion of specialist events

The Graduate Center program is actively shaped by the doctoral candidates. Research seminars on (interdisciplinary) topics relating to theory and methods can be supported on application. In addition, specialist conferences organized by the doctoral students are also funded.
