CSR
The abbreviation CSR stands for "Corporate Social Responsibility" and refers to the responsibility of companies and organizations for their impact on society. This responsibility encompasses ecological, economic and social aspects. The terms CSR and sustainability are often used interchangeably, but their focus is different. CSR is a narrower concept and refers to the specific contribution that companies or organizations make in their context to global sustainability or sustainable development.
Social responsibility
As a university, we have a special responsibility to society. The relevant tasks and topics include
- the education of students
- the organization of teaching
- the selection of research projects
- the conditions of the working world
- the cooperation between university members
- the impact on the region
- the use of resources
All of these aspects are related to areas of society and also to the three central themes of globalization, digitalization and climate change.
With the University Development Plan (HEP)(Opens in a new tab) 2020-25, Fachhochschule Dortmund is addressing these major topics and will continue to focus on them in the coming years. The HEP is divided into four areas:
- Internationalization
- digitalization
- Project orientation
- Social responsibility (overarching area)
In a process of cooperation, activities and measures at the university have been and are being identified and implemented on an ongoing basis. The CSR Office emerged from one of the many project ideas in the area of social responsibility and is responsible for coordinating all projects and measures as well as internal and external communication on the topic of social responsibility.
The CSR Office aims to enable all members of Fachhochschule Dortmund, whether lecturers, students or employees, to participate in the entire process.
