DOI & ISBN assignment

DOI assignment

Are you a member of the UAS and would like to publish your academic work online? Is it important to you that they remain findable?

We assign a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to the works you publish via PubliDo. This is a unique digital identifier for online publications. In contrast to a URL, which can change at any time, a DOI is permanently valid and thus guarantees the long-term accessibility of a digital object. It can be used for citation. In addition, PubliDo also assigns a URN (Uniform Resource Name) as a further permanent identifier.

This will take you to the DOI for your work:

  • Upload your document to PubliDo(Opens in a new tab)  and provide additional information. You can find instructions here(Opens in a new tab) .
  • Submit the completed and signed publication contract PDF-File 235,72 kB  to the library. This can be done by email, by (in-house) post or in person at the service desk at one of our locations.
  • As soon as we have received the contract, we will release your document. A DOI will be generated and registered. You will then find it in PubliDo under the details of your work.
  • The DOI then leads to the so-called "front door" of the document in PubliDo, i.e. to the PubliDo page with the metadata on the work and the download link.

On request, the DOI (and/or the URN) can also be generated before release. You can then enter the identifier directly in your PDF document. If you are interested, please contact us by e-mail .

ISBN allocation

ISBNs (International Standard Book Numbers) are used to uniquely identify books and certain other publications. They are valid worldwide and are used by booksellers, publishers and libraries.

The library issues ISBNs for publications from the University of Applied Sciences on request. Please contact us with your request by e-mail .

Structure of an ISBN

An ISBN has 13 digits, divided into five parts:

  1. Prefix
  2. group number
  3. publisher number
  4. title number
  5. check digit

You can find out more about the structure and meaning of the individual parts on the website of the German ISBN Agency(Opens in a new tab) .
