"The Time After..." - A performative teaching and learning research project about German-Mongolian visions of the future in times of climate change

Fast facts

Information

As part of the DAAD-funded summer school, the metropolis of Ulan Bataar became a playing field for questions about the future in 2022 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Christoph Lutz-Scheurle (Fachhochschule Dortmund) and in cooperation with the University of the Arts/Ulan Bataar (MUNAC), the UdK-Berlin and the NGO Urban Nomads/Urban Citizen:
What kind of future do we want to live in? Which utopias (still) seem desirable and which have become obsolete?

The future lab "The Time After..." used artistic research as a method of conveying theory and thus followed the wish of the Mongolian participants to focus on utopias in order to explore the potential of the future. In the lecture, Prof. Lutz-Scheurle will explain key initial questions of the project and provide insight into the realization, which was primarily an artistic hybrid format between theater and ethnographic research and was implemented as an experimental performance format (audio walk).

The following other project participants will also be on hand as discussion partners:

  • Batchuluun Davaa (lecturer at the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture )
  • Amar Erdinelebileg (lecturer at the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture )
  • Corinna Bethge (Nomad Citizens)

Bayarmaa Munkbayaar (Nomad Citizens) will translate the Mongolian colleagues.
