"Cohesion knows no age" - Demography forum meets age report

Fast facts

Information

How can a city keep its finger on the pulse of demographic change? What is the importance of social cohesion and solidarity in these times? What does it take to connect different generations and cultures and shape the "future of the many"? Under the motto "Cohesion knows no age!", the city of Dortmund will be addressing these and other questions at a two-day event on November 5 and 6. The "DEIN*ORT" project by Frederike Asche, which explores barriers in public spaces, will also be taking part. The project is part of an interdisciplinary collaboration between applied social sciences, architecture and computer science (IDiAL).

In the Dortmunder U: Demography forum meets age report

The 2nd Dortmund Demography Forum will kick off the "Demography Forum meets Age Report" event on November 5. Following last year's successful start, this year's focus will be on the "How?" of social interaction. The event in the Bürgerhalle of Dortmund City Hall will highlight the importance of education, employment, encounters and social space development for social cohesion in Dortmund.

On November 6, the focus will then turn to developments in senior citizens' policy. In cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, the results of the Ninth Ageing Report will be presented to the public at the Dortmunder U.

The events are aimed at both experts and interested members of the public. Visitors can look forward to presentations and discussion panels that will open up very different perspectives on demographic change.
