The objects of interpretation patterns and habitus have not yet been clearly differentiated conceptually, let alone defined satisfactorily and concisely theoretically. This was the reason for us to dedicate a volume to the empirically saturated conceptualization as part of the textbook series "Objective Hermeneutics in Science and Practice", which Loer publishes with Springer VS. Heuristically, we took Bourdieu's (especially on the concept of habitus) and Oevermann's (especially on the concept of interpretation patterns) as our starting point.
Using four cases, we examined interpretations of and attitudes towards the measures taken in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. We limit ourselves to opponents of the measures and try to reconstruct which patterns of interpretation underlie the admissions of these opponents. We are also interested in the question of whether these patterns of interpretation correspond to a specific habitus.
In the course of the case analyses, which were concerned with the reconstruction of interpretation patterns and habitus, we have now - at the end of the research process - worked out detailed concepts for both terms, which we believe can advance the theoretical definition. In our opinion, the concept of the pattern of interpretation that we have developed takes systematic and appropriate account of the patterned nature of the pattern of interpretation for the first time. This is briefly outlined here: Taking into account six characteristics initially developed heuristically, we were able to show in our case analyses that interpretations that we found in the expressive forms of the cases examined can be traced back to rules of interpretation, and that inconsistencies between the interpretations can be derived from a key concept that can at the same time be unfolded into principles that mask the inconsistencies and thus make them disappear for the case. The totality of these concepts listed here in their context now forms the concept of the interpretation pattern. Various concrete patterns of interpretation then belong to the scope of the concept of the pattern of interpretation. Using an exemplary representation of the pattern of interpretation of libertarian self-centeredness reconstructed by us with the key concept of monadic autonomy, the concept of the pattern of interpretation will be put up for discussion.
The - far less complex - concept of habitus as a generative structure, the core of which is a maxim that produces rules of action, which in turn generate the actions, can also be demonstrated in the lecture using a case in order to discuss the question of the mutual stabilization of interpretation patterns and habitus.
