Like all Western countries, Germany is facing challenges in coping with the various social and global political crises. This can lead to excessive demands, feelings of powerlessness and mistrust in politics and institutions, which often drive a wedge between different social groups and attitudes. In order to strengthen social cohesion, tangible political solutions that are convincing are needed, as well as an understanding of the "deep history" (Hochschild) of disappointed expectations, loss of pride and security. Only then can there be a fundamental capacity for dialog and a strengthening of solidarity.
