The use of personalized AI companions in museums marks the shift from passive consumption to a dialogical paradigm. Whether as mobile AI chatbots (Pepper) or as anthropomorphic AI robots (Ameca), as generative "historical ghosts"/AI avatars (Dalí Lives) or as didactic guide aids: AI entities have left the purely technological "WOW phase" (Ai-Da Robot) behind and are now taking on specific educational as well as performative tasks in the museum. They promote affective hospitality, historical empathy and functional inclusivity. The article also analyzes the systemic risks: the erosion of algorithmic transparency, epistemological bias and the danger of the AI-induced scenographic spectacle displacing the silent aura of the artefact. The decisive factor is the dissolution of the rigid boundary between exhibit, mediator and viewer at the experiential level. In a symbiosis rather than a substitution, AI also functions as an "irritating provocateur". It transforms the scenography from pure knowledge transfer to a discursive, active generation of knowledge. #scenography #AIChatbots
