About the project

PlagStop.nrw is a cross-university cooperation project of DH.NRW.

Firstly, plagiarism detection software is to be introduced at the participating colleges and universities. At Fachhochschule Dortmund, the plagiarism detection software Ouriginal will be integrated into the learning management system ILIAS, tested by lecturers and evaluated in university-wide use. In addition to the technical implementation and the implementation of data protection and copyright regulations, framework conditions and accompanying materials for the use of the plagiarism detection software will be developed and all results will be recorded in a guideline. This is intended to support other universities in introducing plagiarism detection software or optimizing the operation of an existing system.

Secondly, a legal opinion will clarify whether it is possible to merge local databases of individual universities into a common database in order to use them to check for plagiarism.

Thirdly, ten digital self-learning modules are to be developed for subsequent use as Open Educational Resources (OER) to prevent plagiarism. Fourthly, a concept for plagiarism prevention is to be developed and implemented at the participating universities.
