Concrete Sculpture

Fast facts

About the project

The "CONCRETE SCULPTURE" project shows the realization of individual exposed concrete sculptures which were designed by students as part of the Building Materials Technology 2 course.

The students of the 2nd semester designed architectural sculptures in the laboratory exercise accompanying the semester under the supervision of Dipl.-Ing. Daniel Horn M.Sc. and produced precise formwork. These were then filled with a special "fine-grain concrete" (self-compacting) and stripped and finished by the students. The result was 30 unique, filigree concrete sculptures.

The aim of this course was to train students in the perception of design principles and the manual production of formwork for implementation on a 1:1 scale.

Throughout the entire process, the students were supported by the employees Paul-Andreas Maurer and Winfried Schmidt. We would also like to thank Dyckerhoff GmbH for the material support.
