About the person
Prior to his studies, he did community service in a residential home and then worked as a freelancer for an educational organization for people with disabilities for around ten years.
Studied law at the University of Bremen and the University of Liverpool. These studies were supplemented by shorter stays - partly combined with prison placements - in England (LSE/ HMP Brixton) and the Netherlands (RU Groningen/ Groot Bankenbosch, Veenhuizen) as well as at the Oñati International Institute for the Sociology of Law.
After completing his studies, research assistant at the Bremen Institute for Criminal Policy/ Faculty of Law at the University of Bremen and the Faculty of Law at the Georg-August University of Göttingen as well as lecturer at the University of Namibia in Windhoek, at the University of Bremen and the University of Hamburg in Criminal Sciences, International Criminal Law and European and International Protection of Human Rights.
Since 2005, he has practiced law with a focus on criminal law. In this area, he specializes in the enforcement and execution of sentences and corrective measures. Also involved in various international research projects in the field of criminal justice.
Since March 1, 2013, substitute professor for "Law in Social Work" at the Fachhochschule Dortmund at the Faculty of Applied Social Studies.
