Fachhochschule Dortmund welcomed its new teaching staff, who recently started at the university, with a welcome day.
"I am new - and you are new!" said Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Tamara Appel, welcoming the invited lecturers on 17 March 2023. A team from the Institute for Higher Education Didactics and Perspective Management had put together an informative program in the "Innovation Lab" at the Emil-Figge-Straße location. "We want you all to arrive here safely on board," emphasized Tamara Appel. "Today you will learn a lot about our university of applied sciences and have the opportunity to clarify questions for a successful start."
Get to know each other and network
Prof. Dr. Stephan Weyers, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Studies, encouraged those present to use the Welcome Day to get to know each other and network. "As input providers, you are one of the most important resources for our students," said Stephan Weyers and promoted continuous professional and didactic development in the interests of high quality standards.
Research assistants Lina Schmitz and Rebecca Hegemann-Rockel were able to build on this. They presented the Institute for Higher Education Didactics, which ensures and further develops the quality of teaching and studies with a wide range of offers.
Insights into work areas
Other guests who gave the new lecturers insights into their areas of work included Corinna Meier (Head of the Department of Organizational and Prospective Management), Andreas Salewski (Head of Campus and Project Management in the Department of University IT), Prof. Dr. Martin Hirsch (Mentor for University Didactics Training) and Kim Veit (Department of Planning, Quality Assurance and Law) on competence orientation in module descriptions.
After a lively exchange of opinions and experiences, the Welcome Day came to an end late in the afternoon.
