Study in the Max-Ophüls-Platz library until 10 p.m. thanks to "Open Library"

Published

From April 13, members of Fachhochschule Dortmund will be able to use the library at the Max-Ophüls-Platz location for much longer than before. This will be possible thanks to unstaffed opening hours in the evenings and all day on Saturdays. This concept is called "Open Library". From Monday to Saturday, the library will be open until 10 p.m. - longer than ever before. Opening on Saturdays is a first for this location.

The library at Max-Ophüls-Platz is the first of the three library locations to introduce the Open Library. Outside of service hours, visitors can enter the library with a key, which they can borrow at the gate against a signature. The keys will only be issued to members of Fachhochschule Dortmund. In contrast to the other two locations in Sonnenstraße and in the Emil-Figge-Str. 44 building, no automatic door with registration via FHCard can be installed for reasons of monument protection.

During open library hours, the study spaces, media and scanners can be used as usual. There are some minor restrictions on other services due to the absence of staff. Details and all other information about the Open Library can be found here:

Unfortunately, it is not yet clear when the other two locations will be able to launch the new concept. Major conversion work and technical measures are required there, which have not yet been completed. As soon as a start date has been set, the library will provide information on all channels. Until then, you can find the current opening hours for all locations here:
