Sustainability Week: A successful start

Published

How universities should respond to the climate crisis was the topic of the talk at the U.

Looking back on the Sustainability Week at Fachhochschule Dortmund, Sebastian Kreimer from the CSR Office draws a positive conclusion: perhaps it was the premiere for an event that will be held regularly in the future.

This was the "Sustainability Week" from October 24 to 27, 2022: six highly topical lectures by external and internal experts. A "market of opportunities" with lots of practical information and everyday tips on saving energy. A panel discussion with scientific and social expertise. And: many interested visitors, those seeking and finding advice, those listening and thinking along.

Hit a nerve

"From my point of view, the week was a success," sums up Sebastian Kreimer. As one of the heads of the still young CSR Office ("Corporate Social Responsibility"), he initiated the Sustainability Week and put together the program. The offerings obviously struck a chord with many FH employees: "The market was very well attended and the other program items also met with great interest. I am also impressed by the commitment of the departments, which made the implementation possible in the first place."

The Sustainability Week was intended as an informative kick-off to the "Together less ..." campaign, with which Fachhochschule Dortmund aims to significantly reduce its energy consumption. In view of how well it went, however, it might make sense to make it an annual event, says Sebastian Kreimer.
