"Practice meets FH" symposium

Published

Around 70 representatives from the various fields of social work and the university came together on September 13 for the "Praxis trifft FH" (Practice meets UAS) symposium to exchange ideas in various workshops. The symposium began with a keynote speech and current information about the university and the internship semester in the Social Work study program.

State recognition in the focus of the keynote speech

"Praxis trifft FH" has a long tradition and was held in person again for the first time since 2019. This was the twelfth time the symposium had taken place.

After a welcome from Dean Prof. Dr. Katja Nowacki(Opens in a new tab)  and Practice Committee Chair Marie-Luise Bergmann(Opens in a new tab) , Practice Officer Annika Zemke(Opens in a new tab)  provided general information and gave a keynote speech followed by a discussion focusing on the professional discourse on state recognition for social workers.

Diverse workshops

After a joint lunch break, visitors were able to take part in one of a total of eight workshops, which ranged from recruiting interns to experimental drawing as a cultural offering in social work.

In the closing plenary session, it was summarized that both places of learning, the university and the practice, are constitutive for social work students. "Only by dovetailing both instances can the adequate training of future social workers be guaranteed," emphasized one participant from the field.
