Prof. Dr. Stephan Weyers (center), Vice-Rector for Teaching, Studies and International Affairs, led the delegation.

Fachhochschule Dortmund is further expanding its cooperation with Indian partner institutions. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Stephan Weyers, Vice-Rector for Teaching, Studies and International Affairs, a delegation traveled to Bengaluru and Mysore to deepen existing collaborations and establish new professional connections.

The delegation visited the RV College of Engineering, the RV University with its Architecture and Design departments, the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in Mysore and the URH Language Academy in Bengaluru.

The RV College of Engineering is a strategic partner of Fachhochschule Dortmund. The cooperation is long-term and combines studying and teaching, exchange formats, joint projects and administrative structures. At a certificate ceremony, German and Indian students were honored for their joint academic achievements.

New paths for student exchanges

The talks focused on new ways for student exchanges - both for Indian students to Dortmund and for Fachhochschule Dortmund students to India. VTU agreed to facilitate exchanges for internships and thesis phases. Prospective paths to a UAS degree were also discussed.

Other exchange formats focused on possible cooperation with the architecture, film and design faculties of the Indian partner institutions. Joint teaching formats, workshops, project collaborations and exchange opportunities for students and lecturers were discussed. The aim is to expand cooperation with India in terms of subject matter and anchor it more broadly within the university beyond the existing focal points.

Preparation of prospective Indian students

At the URH Language Academy, the delegation learned about the linguistic and cultural preparation of prospective Indian students. The first student from this program is due to come to Dortmund in the winter semester 2026/27. In addition, the URH will support the NIE in Mysore in teaching German in the future.

In addition to academic cooperation, the focus was also on administrative processes - from application and admission to supervision and recognition of achievements. Discussions with industry representatives broadened the view of practical relevance and career prospects.

The results of the trip will now be translated into concrete measures and the strategic partnership with RV College will be further strengthened. New collaborations in architecture, design and film will be established and administrative cooperation will be permanently anchored.
