DART symposium focuses on applied research

Published

At the last DART Symposium - still under coronavirus restrictions in 2021 - the OmniMan, a robot for collaborating with humans, was shown in action.

In the midst of a constantly changing world with many social challenges, applied science makes a fundamental contribution to solutions and new ideas. PhD students from Fachhochschule Dortmund and other universities will present the diversity of these fields of work at the fourth DART Symposium at DASA in Dortmund on April 25, 2024.

DART stands for Dortmund Applied Research and Transfer. Prospective doctoral students from Fachhochschule Dortmund's Graduate Center regularly organize the DART Symposium as a one-day conference for international exchange. "The symposium is primarily for doctoral students by doctoral students," says Iris Bosold-Grund from the Graduate Center.

Teaching staff and research assistants are also invited. "In fact, anyone who is interested in applied research," says Iris Bosold-Grund. Participants will have the opportunity to get in touch with experts and colleagues from various disciplines to discuss the latest developments in applied research and learn from each other. Dr. Isabel Roessler from the CHE (Centre for Higher Education Development) will give the keynote speech. Dr. Roessler's expertise and experience promise an exciting perspective on the current challenges and opportunities in applied research. All presentations at the symposium will be in English.

Livestream on the net

If you can't make it to the DASA - the Dortmund Working World Exhibition - in person, you can also be there digitally on April 25, 2024 from 10 a.m. and follow the DART Symposium via livestream. In addition to the keynote speech, the program will include panel discussions and presentation rounds in which doctoral candidates will explain their work and research approaches. The DART Award "Best Contribution - Applied Research Prize for young researchers" will also be presented.

A detailed program for the DART Symposium 2024 is available on the English-language website at www.fh-dortmund.de/dart(Opens in a new tab) . Registration for the free event is also possible there.
