- In the Building Materials Technology 1 module, students learn about the basic building materials used in design and construction. The constructional properties and typical applications of building materials are taught.The basic concepts of the mechanical and physical properties of building materials are defined and linked to the disciplines of structural engineering, structural design, building physics and design.

- The technological development of building materials is considered against the background of the cultural-historical development of mankind.
- Building material technology principles for the durable and thus sustainable use of building materials are conveyed
- The entire life cycle of building materials is explained, from the selection of raw materials to the manufacturing process, the functional life as a building component and the possibility of environmentally friendly recycling. The individual building materials are presented in their entire range of functionality, external shaping and design appearances.Practical examples convey the tension between artistic design, sustainable construction and Business Studies.

- The building materials technology module focuses on promoting an intuitive understanding of building materials and their possible applications in architecture. The functional, aesthetic use of materials in combination with building construction and the application of the latest technologies should be taught and learned from design to detailed planning. The focus is placed on innovative and energy-efficient construction methods.Special emphasis is placed on the resource-conserving use of sustainable and recyclable building materials.
Contents
- The task of future architects in the functional and environmentally and climate-friendly use of materials is further deepened in practical scientific laboratory work. The selection of suitable materials and building material systems with regard to construction, load-bearing structure, building physics and building technology is crucial in the planning process and is what makes interdisciplinary design, planning and construction possible in the first place.
- The budding architects learn about the manufacturing process of building materials through to material-appropriate product application and document the results of material tests and design studies they have carried out themselves.
- Newly developed building materials are to be considered for use in the construction industry so that this knowledge can also be incorporated into other modules. In close cooperation with industry and Business Studies, students learn about the responsible use of different building materials and product systems.

- As a basic course, the module forms partly mutual links to the subjects GK1/2 (M08; continuation of the semester task through digital implementation of the bound plans), DT (M06; plan representation and drawing standards for technical drawings) GL (M11; layout techniques and plan representation) and CE (M27; application of digital work processes, image processing).
- The digital building model constructed in CZ Part 2 can be further used in the subjects TGA and BB to extend the value chain to practical aspects of Building Information Modeling (BIM) or for planning building services building equipment.

Four semester-accompanying performance assessments in the form of room exercises or term papers. One ungraded seminar paper may be required per module section/semester.

The courses help students to understand the relationship between climate, building and comfort requirements. The interplay of form, material and the resulting physical characteristics of a building is presented in the coupled exercises. The module provides students with the tools to use simplified calculation methods to dimension the necessary technology for heating, cooling and ventilation and to integrate it into the building design. Of particular importance is the development of a holistic approach in the conception of architecture, in which the requirements for comfort are integrated in the early design phase in order to sustainably reconcile the aspects of ecological and architectural quality.

Participants in the course will learn the basic principles of building physics for sound insulation and room acoustics, how to apply them and how to verify compliance with current regulations.
Contents
Building physics deals with the interaction between buildings and the physical phenomena of heat, moisture and sound. Energy saving, comfortable and hygienic living conditions in rooms, protection against moisture damage are some of its goals. Knowledge of building physics is essential for architects when designing, planning and constructing buildings. Structural damage in new buildings and renovations is often caused by ignorance of the laws of building physics. In the Building Physics 2 course, the following will be discussed, among other things

The module is divided into four sub-elements (2 CPs each)
- EV 1 CAD: Self-study tutorial. Primarily IT applications for office practice .
- EV 2 Law Fee law, contract law, liability law, insurance law, architects' copyright law, professional law, competition law, expert witness law, alternative dispute resolution (arbitration board, mediation, adjudication, arbitration proceedings). The content is not limited to the mere teaching of the substantive legal principles, but their practical application is also practiced. This includes, for example, the simulation and evaluation of contract negotiations or arbitration. EV 3 Office Perspective Architects present a cross-section of possible activities in architectural offices by way of example, the lecture series is supplemented by excursions.

The teaching of the professorship "Digital Methods in Architecture" deals intensively with the influences of digital processes on contemporary design and construction in architecture. On the one hand, the content of the HOAI, service phases 6 and 7 (tendering and awarding) are oriented towards the construction industry. Different tendering procedures (national and international) are presented and the various awarding options (individual awarding, GMP contracts) are explained. Explanations of the parties involved in construction as well as current trends such as new HOAI specifications complete the course. For example, the presentation of cost accounting as a basis for determining unit prices is currently explained (requirement of the current HOAI).

- The building materials technology module focuses on promoting an intuitive understanding of building materials and their possible applications in architecture. The functional, aesthetic use of materials in combination with building construction and the application of the latest technologies should be taught and learned from design to detailed planning. The focus is placed on innovative and energy-efficient construction methods.Special emphasis is placed on the resource-conserving use of sustainable and recyclable building materials.
Contents
- The task of future architects in the functional and environmentally and climate-friendly use of materials is further deepened in practical scientific laboratory work. The selection of suitable materials and building material systems with regard to construction, load-bearing structure, building physics and building technology is crucial in the planning process and is what makes interdisciplinary design, planning and construction possible in the first place.
- The budding architects learn about the manufacturing process of building materials through to material-appropriate product application and document the results of material tests and design studies they have carried out themselves.
- Newly developed building materials are to be considered for use in the construction industry so that this knowledge can also be incorporated into other modules. In close cooperation with industry and Business Studies, students learn about the responsible use of different building materials and product systems.

1) MF, BP 1 (see annex to the StgPO) 2) In addition to the requirements from the annex to the StgPO, participants should have successfully completed the modules EW1 + EW2, as well as K1 + K2, i.e. the participants have already created several of their own designs for more complex buildings. Only students who have already created two of their own designs for (more complex) buildings of a special type and use can take part in the course, as the participants must create and present a fire protection concept for two of their own more complex designs (not a single-family house or similar). The two own designs are therefore mandatory for the preparation of the fire protection concepts, the presentation and the elaboration. The own draft is the basis for two of the five examination elements. Important: Participants must fulfill both admission requirements 1) and 2).

In addition to knowledge of building materials, prospective architects are taught how to deal scientifically with issues relating to building materials. After completing the course, students should be able to independently and systematically research the properties, areas of application and processing methods of building materials and also apply them.
Contents
This specialization provides an in-depth study of selected areas of building materials technology, which is not possible within the time frame of other courses. Students learn the methodical and professional handling of modern building materials and their application in building construction through scientific material studies carried out by themselves and appropriate laboratory exercises. This is followed by the practical implementation of the work in the form of prototypes, view models and demonstrators on a suitable scale up to original size. This creates a direct practical link to modern building materials and their processing techniques. This is done in close cooperation with industry and Business Studies. Finally, the results are scientifically processed, compiled and presented.

During the course, participants will learn how to carry out the necessary verifications for winter/summer thermal insulation, ENEV, moisture and sound insulation and room acoustics on specific buildings. The buildings are also assessed in terms of room acoustics and fire protection. Participants learn how to work on projects using Excel and simulation programs. They experience the possibilities and risks of the programs and learn the plausibility of results
