Team design and rollout

Team description

The Design and Rollout team consists of three students and has been part of the Master's project since the winter semester 2021. Prof. Dr. Yves Rosefort is the mentor and supervises our activities, among other things. As it is the team's task to maintain close contact with all other teams, all mentors are direct contacts.

Work packages

The still very young team has the task of coordinating the cooperation with the Faculty of Design at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The common goal is to design a body for the Nuevo 35. To master this task, it is important to compile all relevant information from all teams and make it available to the Faculty of Design(Opens in a new tab) , headed by Prof. Martin Middelhauve. The designers must also make their requirements available to the mechanical engineers so that target-oriented solutions can be developed together. Furthermore, it is the team's task to research all the specifications for a car body in order to obtain road approval. These include the maximum dimensions of the vehicle, pedestrian protection and much more.

The team is also involved in event planning and the rollout for the public presentation of the Nuevo 35. The aim of the event is to present a prototype as well as the teams and mentors who are part of the project.

What has been achieved so far?

The first task that had to be mastered was the integration of the Faculty of Design into the project. This has been very successful so far and will be intensified in the coming semesters, so that individual contact persons from the Faculty of Design should attend our weekly sub-project manager meetings to present their progress and be better integrated into the project.

Furthermore, the Design & Rollout team has started researching the manufacturability and choice of materials for the bodywork as well as summarizing standards and specifications for road approval.

Collaboration with the External Representative has begun in order to jointly organize and plan future rollout events.

Goals for the coming semesters

Design:

In the following semesters, the team's main task is to complete an initial body concept and marry it to the vehicle. This involves clarifying important points from both an optical and a technical point of view. The further development of the bodywork is accompanied by fluid mechanical calculations in order to design a streamlined and therefore low-consumption design. In addition, a possibility is being developed to manufacture the body at Fachhochschule Dortmund.

Rollout:

The event is not only intended to be informative, but also to present the vision of the Nuevo 35 at first hand. To this end, there will be an opportunity to drive the vehicle on a race track. It is important to determine the effort and the course of the event.

It is important to correctly assess the progress of the overall vehicle in order to define a realistic date for the presentation.
