  • You can influence the technical orientation and focus of the course as part of the curriculum advisory board.
  • the vocational school is replaced by the university during vocational training.
  • You can use internal formats to exchange information with other training companies on topics and structures within the scope of training.
  • You can combine projects as part of your studies with different areas of the university, e.g. in research.

Organizational cooperation

The practical cooperation with cooperation partners is regulated by a cooperation agreement. This refers to the general interaction between theory (studies) and practice (profession). A study contract regulates the details, but does not interfere with entrepreneurial freedom. This means that the Fachhochschule Dortmund only offers the DUAL Medical Informatics study program in the Faculty of Computer Science in conjunction with a cooperation partner.

In the training-integrated form, a training contract is concluded between the student and the cooperation partner via the responsible regional Chamber of Industry and Commerce. As a differentiation from the practice-integrated form, the "IHK project" module is credited as a passed module in the degree course after completion of the training.

In the practice-integrated form, an employment contract (part-time) is agreed between the student and the cooperation partner. As a differentiation from the training-integrated form, the module "Company practice work" is completed in the 6th semester as a seminar paper on the status of professional development.

Fachhochschule Dortmund offers a range of services for our cooperation partners, such as use of the dual job market , listing as a cooperation partner for prospective students  and many other services.

Professional cooperation

Active professional cooperation takes place mainly via the trainers and practice representatives in detail. Cooperation partners can voluntarily contribute to the study program through various formats. These formats include the curriculum advisory board, curriculum, coordination meetings, regulars' tables and individual projects.

Every study program must be reviewed after a certain interval, e.g. as part of a reaccreditation. In the event of significant changes, the Curriculum Advisory Board is convened to determine the professional orientation for the coming years. This is actively shaped and influenced by the cooperation partners. Persons from the management of the cooperation partners are also involved.

Active participation in the curriculum is desirable in order to ensure a close link between theory and practice. There are many opportunities to incorporate topics and practical constellations into teaching through seminars, project work and Bachelor's theses.

At the coordination meetings, there is a direct exchange between the trainers and practice representatives. Organizational matters and general processes are discussed and coordinated here.

The regulars' table offers a direct, non-binding exchange on all areas of study, practice and training.

In the case of individual projects as part of the course, direct cooperation or further research projects can be discussed with the lecturers.

Cooperation

With the conclusion of the cooperation agreement, organizational and professional cooperation is made possible within the framework of the Medical Informatics DUAL study program.

The primary supervision of the dual students during the 9th semester is carried out by the trainer in the company. This\r has all rights and obligations within the framework of the training and during the course of studies, e.g. checking the performance status every semester.
