Info evening "AI and democracy"

Information

The federal election is just around the corner. This is a good opportunity to take a look at the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on our democracy—with speakers from correctiv, Fachhochschule Dortmund, the City of Dortmund, and the Düsseldorf Institute for Internet and Democracy.

From social media and fake news to opportunities for more constructive political discussion: AI has long been part of our everyday political life. Learn how AI shapes our information landscape, what risks of manipulation exist, and what opportunities it offers. Together, we’ll make the topic of AI more accessible, ask critical questions, and consider how we can use AI in a way that benefits our democracy.

The program:

  • Welcome and Introduction:
Friedhelm Evermann, Special Envoy to the Mayor for Diversity, Tolerance, and Democracy

  • Presentation: “How Is Artificial Intelligence Changing Our Democracy?”
Dr. Dennis Frieß (Communication scholar and Research Coordinator at the Düsseldorf Institute for Internet and Democracy (DIID) at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf

  • Panel discussion:
Featuring Caroline Lindekamp (correctiv), Prof. Dr. Maik Wunder (Professorship in Digitalization and Social Responsibility at the Fachhochschule Dortmund), and Dr. Dennis Frieß (DIID). Moderator: Jana Goller
