FabLab: Last-minute gifts for Valentine's Day

Fast facts

Information

The FabLab at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts makes heartfelt gifts for Valentine's Day possible with the help of 3D printers, for example.

The "FabLab" at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts is opening its doors just before Valentine's Day, especially for lovers: anyone who wants to get creative at short notice to impress their loved ones with original gifts is welcome on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 5 to 9 pm. In addition to 3D printers, digitally controlled sewing machines and laser cutters are also available.

As an open workshop, the "Fabrication Laboratory" at the University of Applied Sciences also makes the ideas of external private individuals tangible using modern manufacturing methods. For the open evening on Valentine's Day, the FabLab team has prepared "hearty" templates for guests to work with.

Anyone who has no previous experience with the machines and tools will be supported by trained employees. "Anyone who has an idea or simply wants to try something out is invited," says Dr. Farzad Foadian, the supervisor.

Visitors can either bring their own materials such as foil, fabric and wood or purchase them on site for a voluntary donation. Use of the equipment is free of charge.
