Fachhochschule Dortmund with exciting topics at the "elektrotechnik" trade fair

Information

Fachhochschule Dortmund will be presenting its Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at this year's "elektrotechnik" trade fair in Dortmund's Westfalenhallen. At the 60 square meter stand in the Werk-Stadt-Halle (Hall 6), interested visitors can gain an insight into studies and research.

Among other things, Fachhochschule Dortmund will be presenting various extended reality (XR technology) projects. These include XR applications in robotics as well as technologies for virtual reality therapy applications. One of the topics will be the integration of hardware: how can data be transferred into virtual environments and how can rehabilitation devices be integrated into virtual environments? There will be live demonstrations of medical data acquisition and typical applied measurement methods from the laboratory practicals will be presented.

Fachhochschule Dortmund will also be presenting three exciting projects from the fields of artificial intelligence and integrated circuit design:

  • The Rad Hard RISC-V microcontroller, which was developed for use in radiation-exposed environments.
  • A system for object recognition and analysis of images in real time, which is to be used in industrial systems such as sorting systems, but also in autonomous vehicles.
  • The Caeco AI hardware accelerator, which is specially designed for processing one-dimensional convolutional neural networks (CNN) and is used, for example, to analyze ECG data in order to automatically detect patients with ventricular atrial fibrillation.

The "elektrotechnik" trade fair is taking place for the 43rd time and showcases trends, technologies and applications with which the industry is preparing itself for the challenges of the future. It is the meeting place for companies from the electrical and information technology and electrical engineering sectors in NRW, who come together here with international and national manufacturers, wholesalers, service providers and trade visitors from industry, architects, planners and municipal representatives. Around 450 exhibitors - including Fachhochschule Dortmund - will be showcasing their innovations and technical solutions from February 8 to 10, 2023.
