The Fachhochschule Dortmund is once again sending a clear message of diversity, tolerance, and equal opportunity: For the fourth year in a row, the university is actively represented at Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Dortmund. The university’s iconic Citroën HY will once again serve as a central meeting place on Friedensplatz.
Through its continued commitment, Fachhochschule Dortmund underscores its social responsibility and its strong alliance with the queer community. For members of the university, participating in CSD is more than just a tradition—it is an expression of a vibrant campus culture in which diversity is lived and valued.
At the street festival on Friedensplatz in downtown Dortmund, the Citroën HY will serve as a gathering spot. Students will be on site handing out popsicles, sunglasses, and colorful buttons and temporary tattoos. Prof. Dr. Tamara Appel, president of the Fachhochschule Dortmund, and Svenja Stepper, the university’s chancellor, will also stop by Friedensplatz in person to chat with CSD visitors.
An Overview of the Dortmund CSD's Daily Schedule
If you’d like to celebrate the day together with the community and Fachhochschule Dortmund, here are the highlights:
- 11 a.m. – Church service: The day kicks off at St. Peter’s Church, followed by a “glitter blessing” as a colorful start to the day
- 12:00 p.m. – Gathering for the march: All participants will meet at the north exit of Dortmund Central Station
- 1:00 p.m. – Start of the CSD march: The march will set off from the north exit of the main train station and make its way through downtown
- 2:00 p.m. to approx. 10:00 p.m. – Street festival: A lively atmosphere, booths, and entertainment on Friedensplatz—including a booth from the Fachhochschule Dortmund

SLADO e.V. is the umbrella organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender associations and initiatives in Dortmund. It was founded in April 1998 and advocates for the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people in Dortmund. The organization is recognized as a nonprofit and as an independent provider of child and youth welfare services.
