"Kökar and the insects."
Artistic research and material collection for a video installation.
Based on her application, Nora Fuchs was selected as a scholarship holder for her photographic project in Kökar in August 2025.
During the scholarship and work stay in the house with studio and apartment, she captured the various lighting conditions and views from the house in several thousand photographs. The collection of photographs ties in with the work "Fensterbilder", as well as the various immersive video installations of recent years (Bilid, Gluggavedur, Weatherforecast).
As a result of the residency, new perspectives were created, every change in the weather was recorded, the sometimes secret glimpse of rare passers-by, the observation of changes in the landscape from summer to fall. This was linked to the constant battle against mosquitoes both outside and inside. The insects acted as an unwanted link between man and nature.
The new footage has now been edited. The result is another filmic work, based on an architectural model landscape and thus a constructed spatial situation. Man's interaction with nature is "measured" at the interface of the view.
The film will be exhibited in fall 2026 as a spatial and immersive video installation as part of Schöneberger Art.
