(Romantic) love and sexuality are undoubtedly of great existential importance for all people. At the same time, they are embedded in and determined by social norms and practices that vary culturally and historically. In philosophy, there has been an increased interest in love and sexuality in recent years, which relates to questions of their definition, their (moral) value, the ethics associated with them as well as their social and political order. The contributions collected in this focus reflect the diverse and complex connections between love, sexuality, social norms and identity. They encourage us to critically question traditional concepts and social structures and to develop alternative approaches, and they illustrate how productive the current philosophical debate on love and sexuality is and what potential it offers for the further development of future discourses.
