Music in film: Introduction to copyright and ancillary copyright in music content - This seminar offers a practical introduction to the fundamental rights involved in the use of texts and images, sound and video recordings of performances, with a focus on music. The difference between copyrights to works on the one hand and ancillary copyrights to recordings or recorded performances on the other, as well as the right to one's own image and the basic steps for acquiring rights, including the role of collecting societies such as GEMA and GVL, are also addressed, as are problems and solutions, e.g. in the context of online portals. - Workshop guest: Jan Uwe Leisse (Grethler Rechtsanwälte, Cologne and Berlin) - Born in Bremen. Studied law at the University of Hamburg as well as electric bass and jazz double bass at Berklee College of Music in Boston/USA and at McGill University in Montréal/Canada.
