Scenario analysis is presented as an instrument for facilitating action decisions and differentiated from other foresight instruments. The procedure for applying a scenario analysis is described in four main steps. Areas of application and possible uses for scenarios are shown by way of example. The application of a scenario analysis is illustrated using the projects "Pflege im Quartier (PiQ)" and "QuartiersNETZ". The article thus provides two concrete examples of the different approaches and possible applications of this futurology tool.
