The Other Face

Selected Screen-Printed Posters

Lars Harmsen

T21 is pleased to present a selection of silkscreen posters by Lars Harmsen (@posterrex). On display is a selection from a series of one hundred portraits in which the faces of populist figures are juxtaposed with the faces of their victims—a visual essay on the political present, pointed and deliberately ambivalent.
The works on display are not documentary representations. They examine the mechanisms of political simplification, exclusion, and the exercise of power, while simultaneously drawing attention to those affected by hate speech, discrimination, and political violence.
The series is intended less as an indictment than as an invitation to engage with the issues. It asks how social discourse can succeed when polarization becomes a political strategy. How can we strengthen our sense of community without erasing differences? How can listening, dissent, and education open up spaces where conversations—rather than opposing fronts—take place?
The technique of screen printing lends the works an immediate physical presence. As a medium of public space, the poster combines artistic expression with political communication while also referencing its historical role as a means of information, propaganda, and protest.
Exhibition venue: T21, Türkenstraße 21, 80799 Munich
