VR adventure: student project to introduce students to extended reality (XR)

Fast facts

About the project

In "VR Adventure", the player can discover a virtual world and overcome a series of challenges. The project was developed by students on the Bachelor's degree course in Digital Technologies.

Running time:

Winter semester 2022/2023

What is it about?

In"VR Adventure", the player can discover a virtual world and overcome a series of challenges. The project was developed by two students on the Digital Technologies bachelor's degree program. The aim of the project is to learn how to use the Unity engine and demonstrate the possibilities of the virtual reality (VR) environment. In the game, the user has to complete various tasks on an island after being stranded on it due to a plane crash. The challenges to be mastered are balloon shooting, bowling and basketball. These can be completed in any order.

How was it realized?

The realization of this project is based on the Unity XR-Interaction-Toolkit and the programming language C#. The XR Interaction Toolkit was used to implement various VR interaction options and C# was used to create the necessary game logic.

We hope that this project will inspire other students to also look into innovative ideas and technologies in the field of XR and illustrate the exciting opportunities that choosing this focus can offer.
