Procedure for supervising project, Bachelor's and Master's theses
With the written work at the end of your studies, you show that you are able to work independently on tasks in the field of (Business Studies) Computer Science and to document this in writing in a scientifically appropriate form.
Ideally, you will already have found a specific topic for your thesis, which we can discuss in an initial meeting on the basis of an exposé you have prepared. If you require assistance in formulating a topic, e.g. in cooperation with a company, I can offer this in a preliminary discussion. An exposé should then be formulated accordingly.
Formulation of an exposé (two 2 DIN A4 pages):
- Topic - What is the topic of the work?
- Motivation - Why is it useful / interesting to deal with this topic?
- Problem definition - What open questions are there on the topic?
- Objective - What is the aim of your work? Which research question should your paper answer?
- Outline - How is your paper structured? Present the structure at least up to the second level of the table of contents.
- Literature - What are the important sources for your work? List at least three sources.
Once you have approved the synopsis, you can start working on it. Further supervision (frequency, form and content) will then be individually coordinated and supported by an ILIAS course set up for this purpose, among other things.
Requirements for project/bachelor's/master's theses, information and links
Please use the information in the module handbook and in the examination regulations of your study program to find out the requirements for the thesis. I am happy to provide further links and documents (Word template for project/bachelor's/master's theses) in a separate ILIAS course for "active writers".
