About 2,000 first-year students are now beginning their studies at Fachhochschule Dortmund. They were officially welcomed at the Konzerthaus. “No matter where you’re from, we in the city of Dortmund are delighted to have you here,” said Mayor Norbert Schilff in his welcoming remarks.
The new students come from all over Germany—from Munich, Berlin, Kiel, Rostock, and Dresden. Nearly half are female. Most are between 19 and 21 years old—two haven’t even turned 18 yet. 300 new international students have traveled—in some cases halfway around the world—to study at Fachhochschule Dortmund.
“Be curious when there’s something you don’t yet understand. Be determined when you’re passionate about something. Be willing to change your mind when a good argument convinces you,” said Rector Prof. Dr. Tamara Appel as she sent the first-year students on their way.
