WELLBEING

Published

The first stitches are knitted with concentration in the knitting café.

According to recent studies, Germany's students feel under a lot of mental stress, which is why the Nordstadtgalerie invited them to four self-care events in March with "WELLBEING".

Because knitting can have a positive effect on serotonin levels, the Fachhochschule Dortmund's knitting café kicked off the event on Thursday, March 7, in the Nordstadtgalerie. Over cookies and tea, fifteen experienced and novice knitters knitted sweaters, scarves and their first stitches. In addition, a games evening on 14 March ensured a good mood - board and board games were played in a relaxed atmosphere.

Fourteen interested students learned how positive psychology can be used in everyday life in the workshop "Happily through your studies with the help of positive psychology". The workshop was offered and held on March 20 by the Psychological Student Advisory(Opens in a new tab)  Service.

The event was brought to a musical close with Community Music, a program offered by the Konzerthaus. The visitors sang together under the guidance of two experienced music teachers. No previous experience was required.

Community Music comes with a diverse selection of songs.

"That was fun," were the comments after the events. That's exactly how it should be: The aim was to create an atmosphere that would have a beneficial effect on personal well-being. The Nordstadtgalerie team is delighted to have created a communal space for positive memories.
