When the new Dortmund crime scene "Schmerz" celebrates its premiere on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the Fachhochschule Dortmund campus will become a "Tatort" cinema: scenes from the episode were filmed here - now the Fachhochschule Dortmund is inviting the public to watch them together in the auditorium.
The UAS was transformed into a police station for the filming. The production company Bavaria had chosen the charming building of the Faculty of Design for the scenes and asked if it could be filmed there - including blocking the driveway for several hours. The UAS facility management and the faculty's dean's office made it possible despite the examination phase. The campus itself became the setting for the crime story and featured prominently on television during the first broadcast.
A cop at the MOP
In the episode "Pain", Peter Faber (Jörg Hartmann), Rosa Herzog (Stefanie Reinsperger) and Ira Klasnić (Alessija Lause) investigate a series of murders that leads deep into the violent history of the Yugoslav wars. The murders, which initially look like an argument in Dortmund's red-light district, take a dramatic turn when it turns out that one of the victims was convicted of war crimes and had been living under a false name. For Ira Klasnić, the case becomes a personal endurance test as her own roots and repressed memories of the war catch up with her. The investigative team faces a confrontation with old loyalties, repressed guilt and the aftermath of war .
To mark the TV premiere, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts is inviting all interested parties to watch "Tatort" together in the auditorium at Max-Ophüls-Platz. Students, employees, alumni, neighbors and film fans can watch the broadcast together in a special atmosphere and rediscover the familiar locations on the screen.
The Dortmund Tatort can also be viewed in the ARD media library from February 22.
