Rector and Chancellor welcome new employees

Published

"Since I started 22 years ago as a lecturer in what was then the Faculty of Communications Engineering, I have enjoyed coming back to the university every morning. I hope you feel the same way!" With these motivating words, Rector Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schwick(Opens in a new tab)  welcomed the new employees in teaching, research and administration to the traditional Info Day on 28 March 2022.

For the second time, the Rector, together with Chancellor Jochen Drescher and a team of organizers, invited the new students to a spacious hall in the Westfalenhallen to officially welcome them and introduce them to the University of Applied Sciences and its prospects.

Quiz questions to loosen up

The Chancellor took over the moderation after the Rector's greeting. Those who listened attentively to his presentation about the University of Applied Sciences could easily answer quiz questions that the colleagues from Organizational Development and Perspective Management had come up with to liven things up. The newcomers were given further insights into the work of the HR department, library, committees and university communications, among other things.

Knowledge and welcome bag

During and at the end of the information day, the new employees had plenty of opportunity to get to know each other beyond their own department. In addition to these initial contacts and lots of background knowledge about the UAS, the newcomers also all took home a "welcome bag" - containing writing materials, an anti-stress ball, a key ring and a drinking bottle that can be filled free of charge at the water dispensers at the UAS locations, for example. A special highlight was the FH cookbook, in which employees present their favorite recipes.
