Open workshop: In addition to students and employees, external visitors can also use the FabLab at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Ideas become tangible in the "FabLab" at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts: In future, the "Fabrication Laboratory" will also be available to external private individuals as an open workshop to give anyone interested access to modern manufacturing processes for individual items. There are no limits to creativity: from individualized products to spare parts, anything is possible. The first "Open Evening" is on Monday, September 5, 2022.

A cutting plotter can be used to print T-shirts.

Whether it's producing prints for T-shirts with the cutting plotter, printing the "Dortmunder U" as a miniature model with the 3D printer or engraving a piece of wood with the laser cutter: Projects like these can be realized in the FabLab@FHDO. Anyone who has no previous experience with the machines and tools will be supported by trained staff. "Anyone who has an idea or simply wants to try something out is welcome," says Dr. Farzad Foadian, who supervises the lab.

Wood can be engraved with a laser cutter.

Visitors can either bring their own materials such as foil, fabric and wood or purchase them on site for a voluntary donation. There are no costs for using the equipment.

Dates of the "Open Evenings" 2022 (Mondays, 5 to 9 p.m.): September 5, September 26, October 17, November 7, November 21, December 12
