Ruhr University Alliance moves to the Applied Excellence Department

Published

The new address of the HAR office is Bebelstraße 20 in Herne.

The Hochschulallianz Ruhr (HAR), previously located at Berliner Platz in Herne, is moving together with the new initiative of the Alliance universities, the Applied Excellence Department (AED), and the "ruhrvalley DeepTech Innovation Network". The new office is located at Bebelstraße 20 in Herne, the post office building.

Bochum University of Applied Sciences, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, the three major universities of applied sciences in the Ruhr region, have been cooperating for many years in the areas of study, research and transfer under the joint umbrella of the Ruhr University Alliance. The HAR is shaping the transformation of the region through stimulating research and its transfer to Business Studies and society as well as important contributions to securing skilled workers. Now that the various institutions and projects have been brought together under one roof in the heart of Herne, the resulting synergies can be optimally exploited.

Professor Andreas Wytzisk-Arens, spokesperson for the HAR steering committee, is delighted about the spatial consolidation of the joint initiatives: "We have been working together as regional universities on a basis of trust at all levels for years. Even better networking of the major joint projects at a central location in the Ruhr region is the logical next step."

Renting the "Alte Druckerei"

Another highlight for Allianz is the rental of the "Alte Druckerei", the well-known Literaturhaus in Herne. "The 'Alte Druckerei' is a wonderful space for creativity and innovation. We are delighted to have the opportunity to combine excellent research and innovative teaching at this location and to be able to engage in exchange and dialog with our partners and the urban community," says Daniela Rings, Head of HAR and AED. Elisabeth Röttsches from the Literaturhaus Herne also welcomes the move to the premises of the traditional building: "I am delighted that the 'Alte Druckerei' will be a place of teaching and academic exchange."
