Fachhochschule Dortmund is further expanding its commitment to the circular economy: On March 26, 2026, employees from administration and faculties jointly visited the "CIRI Hub" exhibition, the Circular Interiors Alliance in Dortmund.
The Alliance brings together companies from the fields of interiors, architecture, design and digitalization with a common goal: to establish circular Business Studies as a new standard. Their approach ranges from innovative materials and furniture to sustainable construction and interior design solutions and digital platforms for transparent resource and lifecycle management. The focus is on longevity, reuse and recycling - key levers for avoiding waste and reducing CO₂ emissions.
The visit made it clear that there are many points of contact for teaching and research at Fachhochschule Dortmund. As a new network partner, the university has the opportunity to integrate current issues from practice directly into studies and projects.
In the coming summer semester, Sabrina Scheidler and Christina Elberg from the Faculty of Business Studies will incorporate the first content from the cooperation into their courses.
"We are already cooperating with the Dortmund Economic Development Agency on the DoZirkulär 2030 project and are represented on the steering committee. We are continuing along this path with the CIRI cooperation. This gives us the opportunity to directly involve companies in our teaching and research," explains Sebastian Kreimer from Fachhochschule Dortmund's CSR Office.
With this new partnership, Fachhochschule Dortmund is continuing to position itself as a driving force for sustainable transformation and practical university teaching in the context of the circular economy.
