For the first time since the nationwide launch of the scholarship program in 2011, Fachhochschule Dortmund has reached the 100 Germany Scholarship mark. 369 students applied for the current funding phase, which begins on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

An internal university committee selected those who will now receive 300 euros per month for at least two semesters - regardless of income, nationality and without BAföG being taken into account. The assessment criteria include not only good performance, but also the social commitment of the applicants.

Weckbacher Sicherheitssysteme GmbH, sponsor of the Deutschlandstipendium for the first time this year, has made the 100th scholarship possible. The Dortmund-based company is supporting a total of two students from the Faculty of Business Studies. It is also a partner of Dortmund Fachhochschule in the dual study program in computer science. Dirk Rutenhofer, Managing Partner, says: "We are looking forward to supporting students on their educational path through this cooperation, providing insights into our company and making contacts at an early stage."

Important contribution to training

The funding partners make an important contribution to the training of qualified young talent, emphasizes Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schwick, Rector of Fachhochschule Dortmund: "The number of sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium at our university has grown steadily in recent years. I would like to express my sincere thanks for this commitment. The scholarship program helps young people to develop their potential and focus on their studies."

Launched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Deutschlandstipendium is awarded to high-achieving, committed students from all faculties. Half of the funding is provided by companies, foundations, associations or private individuals. The other half is provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

In the 2022/2023 funding year, a total of 34 cooperation partners are supporting the Deutschlandstipendium at Fachhochschule Dortmund. Many donors have been working with the university since the program was launched. New partners include AEB SE, itemis AG, LEUE & NILL GmbH + Co KG, REMONDIS Assets & Services GmbH & Co KG, Schraeder GmbH, K. Schräder Nachf., WECKBACHER Sicherheitssysteme GmbH and Westenergie AG.
