German-French study programs

Study once - graduate twice

With the Franco-German double degree, students benefit from international networks and intercultural experiences.

Studying in Paris? This is also possible at Fachhochschule Dortmund and is also financially supported. The Franco-German double degree is a career booster for the start of your professional life.

"Germany and France are each other's biggest trading partners," says Dr Ramona Schröpf, Vice-Rector for Communication and Internationalization at Fachhochschule Dortmund. Even though Bachelor's and Master's degrees are internationally recognized, a double degree from two universities has additional advantages: "The intercultural experience gained during the semesters abroad and the international network are a plus point in any application," says Ramona Schröpf. At Fachhochschule Dortmund alone, 22 students can currently complete a double degree in Business Studies with one of the partner universities in Paris and La Rochelle every year. The ESSEC Business School in Paris is one of the world's leading business schools and regularly occupies top positions in international rankings.

In order to raise awareness of Franco-German study programs in North Rhine-Westphalia outside the mainstream secondary schools, Fachhochschule Dortmund has set up a network of twelve member universities of the Franco-German University (DFH). A project funded by the DFH has just been extended. "With our network partners, we are able to offer 26 double degree study programs in various disciplines, from Franco-German Business Management in Dortmund to Franco-German Chemistry in Bielefeld and Franco-German Law in Düsseldorf," emphasizes Ramona Schröpf.

Student acquisition through regional networks

The partners exchange information with each other at regular network meetings. In the 2021/22 pilot phase, advertising and information materials were designed and produced. In addition to the universities, other partners from Business Studies and education were also recruited. The ongoing follow-up project "Student acquisition through regional networks" focuses on information events, fairs at schools and a new ambassador program at secondary schools. The project is supported by the DFH with a good 12,000 euros.

The DFH also provides funding of 300 euros per month for studying abroad. This funding is independent of Bafög or other scholarships and adds up to 4,500 euros for three semesters abroad. In addition, the Franco-German study programs are accompanied by intensive language training in the first semesters.

The network of Franco-German study programs is already present at career fairs and career information events. Teachers at schools with interested students can also contact the network directly at: doubledegreefh-dortmundde
